At present, the city’s animal husbandry is in a crucial period of spring restocking and expansion as well as concentrated compulsory immunization against major animal diseases. The number of young livestock is rising rapidly, and the immunization task is arduous. In the face of the recent situation where strong convective weather overlapped with the critical period of livestock production, the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Nanchang City responded promptly, resolutely implemented the work requirements of “preventing major floods, responding to major risks, and rescuing from major disasters”, issued a notice at the first time, and comprehensively mobilized and deployed various measures for disaster prevention and mitigation.
To enhance emergency response capabilities, the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Nanchang City has guided each county and district to prepare in advance drainage materials such as water pumps, sandbags, and water barriers, and has also instructed livestock and poultry farms to make emergency material reserves in advance, including forage, disinfectants, vaccines, and post-disaster disinfection materials. At the same time, preparations should be made in advance for the repair of livestock sheds, silt removal and disinfection, and harmless treatment of dead livestock and poultry. Health monitoring of livestock and poultry should also be strengthened, and inspections of feed storage areas should be intensified to ensure good ventilation and strictly prevent moisture and mold.
